Data Retention & Deletion Policy

This policy explains how long we retain your data and how you can request its deletion. We are committed to transparency about our data practices.
1. Data Retention Periods

2. Requesting Data Deletion
How to Delete Your Data
- Go to Settings → Account → Delete Account
- Confirm your identity by entering your password
- Choose what data to delete (options available)
- Confirm deletion request
Alternatively, email privacy@bellaweddingai.com with "Data Deletion Request" in the subject line.
3. Deletion Timeline
What Happens After You Request Deletion
- Immediately: Account is deactivated and no longer accessible
- Within 14 days: Active data deleted from primary systems
- Within 30 days: Data deleted from backup systems
- Exception: Legal/compliance data retained per requirements
4. Data Export
Download Your Data
Before deleting your account, you can download a copy of your data:
- Go to Settings → Privacy → Export My Data
- Select which data types to include
- Receive a download link within 24 hours
- Data provided in standard formats (JSON, CSV, ZIP)
5. Data We Must Retain
Some data may be retained even after account deletion due to legal requirements:
- Financial/tax records (7 years per IRS requirements)
- Data subject to legal holds or disputes
- Anonymized analytics data
- Records required to prevent fraud
- Data shared with third parties (see Privacy Policy)
6. Inactive Accounts
Accounts with no activity for 6 months may be marked as inactive. We will send multiple notifications before taking any action on inactive accounts. Inactive accounts may be deleted after 12 months of inactivity.
7. Published Content
If you've published a wedding website, please unpublish it before requesting account deletion. Published websites will be taken offline upon account deletion, but cached versions may persist in search engines temporarily.
8. Vendor Data
For vendors, business data including completed transactions and reviews may be retained longer for platform integrity and legal compliance. Vendor accounts can request data export and deletion through Settings or by contacting vendors@bellaweddingai.com.
9. California Residents (CCPA)
Your California Rights
California residents have additional rights under CCPA:
- Right to know what data we collect
- Right to delete personal information
- Right to opt-out of data sales (we don't sell data)
- Right to non-discrimination for exercising rights
